2022/23 NHL Skater Projections are NOW LIVE

Hello everyone, the moment you’ve been waiting for is here and my 2022/23 NHL Skater Projections are now live at this link:

2022/23 NHL Skater Projections

To use the sheet effectively you’ll want to make a copy for yourself; that way you can edit the point values for each category and get total fantasy point/fantasy point per game projections based on your league’s scoring settings. If you’re in a categories league it gets much more difficult to give accurate rankings as the categories become much more interdependent (if you have G/A/Pts/PPP vs just G/A the value on power play scoring is astronomically different); however I do offer this via my personalized draft kits which I will be selling once again this year for $25 a pop. You can find me in the Apples & Ginos Discord Server or on Twitter and hit my DMs there if you’d like to see one that I’ve done in the past.

I want to give a little background on how I approach and develop projections and how I use projections when drafting. If you follow the Apples & Ginos Fantasy Hockey Podcast you’ve probably already listened to my first of four episodes going through my projections team by team and heard some of this information already. The numbers I project for each player are based on what I consider to be the “most likely outcome” for that player. That’s in terms of linemates, team play style, and time on ice at all three phases (even strength, power play, and penalty kill).

For most players the assumptions are pretty obvious, and I include the EV/PP/SH time on ice breakdown in my projections sheet so you can see how I get to the total ATOI number. This is where you will likely want to apply some of your own subjectivity to the projection. If you think Andrew Mangiapane is going to play top line RW and top PP over Tyler Toffoli, then you’re going to want to be a little more bullish than my projection of 34 goals and 62 points, while simultaneously knocking Toffoli down a peg or two.

For a few players the assumptions may be less obvious and I’m happy to talk through them in the Discord server; the #skater-projections channel was created with that purpose in mind. All the best this year and I hope the projections help you in your quest for fantasy hockey glory!

That’s all for this one folks, I hope you had as much fun reading it as I had writing it! Make sure you follow Apples & Ginos on Twitter and join the Apples & Ginos Discord server for more content and to ask any fantasy hockey questions you may have.

Thanks for reading, you are appreciated!
